mathaf student art exhibition 2012: transform

About the Exhibition

In the context of Qatar, where access to art education is still developing, Mathaf and the Qatar Museums Authority are committed to developing the artistic and expressive talents found in our communities of young people.

The Mathaf Student Art Exhibition: Transform marks our first initiative to foster our creative community by providing K-12 students the platform and encouragement to express their opinions through art-making. Over 500 students from independent and international schools bravely and cleverly responded to this challenge and took time to reflect on their process. What has resulted in this exhibition not only realizes the spirit and vision of the Mathaf Education Department, but more importantly highlights the hunger for schools to connect with art.

We seek to harness the possibilities of art-making to shape personal and social growth. We hope that this and future programs will encourage the rising generations of creative leaders to explore the potential of art to transform our lives.
